Welcome

Middlesbrough
Council are looking to recruit Adopters outside of Middlesbrough
Make
adoption a positive option!
Adoption
brings many different experiences to those who have the ability
to connect to a child who needs a secure and loving family. We
are interested in hearing from you if you can offer a family life
to toddlers, brothers and sisters, a child with special needs,
or older children. If you are childless, already have children
or have had children and they have left home, and you are considering
adoption.
We
have got children waiting for people to adopt them. They vary
in age from babies to 7 year olds and some have special needs.
There is no such thing as a “typical” adopter, so
don’t rule yourself out. You don’t have to be married,
you don’t have to be childless, you don’t have to
be under 35, you don’t have to have a job, you don’t
have to be a home-owner, but you do have to care about children
and enjoy a challenge.
INTERESTED?
We welcome
all enquiries so please ring
Middlesbrough Adoption Service on (01642)
201962 during office hours, or write to us at
Middlesbrough Teaching & Learning Centre,
Cargo Fleet Lane, Middlesbrough, TS3 8PE.

Middlesbrough
Children Families and Learning are working closely with local colleges
and universities looking at professional development and the best possible
routes into teaching. Through this the CFL department are putting together
some excellent packages. We are also looking at the training needs,
which we hope to provide Teaching Assistants, with knowledge of the
day-to-day education, for the children of Middlesbrough.
Raising
standards and tackling workload
Schools are now focused on sustaining the workforce reforms achieved
through implementation of the national agreement. This is bringing together
the whole school staff to work as an effective team and delivering real
benefits to pupils.
Support staff are, as a result of the National Agreement
on workforce reform, being asked to take on new responsibilities in
order to improve school standards further. Schools are being required
to make full use of the skills of support staff and integrate them into
schools’ planning and development.

Ofsted's
Review of Primary Education (1994-1995), it stated that
"Well
trained Teaching Assistants are a key resource". However, Teaching
Assistant's cannot, automatically produce good practice. They need guidance
and sound training. The successful use of Teaching Assistants lies in
understanding the nature of the support they can provide:
